Our Mouthpiece Models

Here we present a portfolio showcasing our cornetto mouthpiece designs, inspired by historical originals. These models have been carefully adjusted to align with modern-day requirements for both sound aesthetics and functionality while preserving the timbre and character of their historical counterparts.

Sprezzatura

Sprezzatura stands as our primary mouthpiece choice for everyday playing. It delivers a well-balanced tone and articulation, ensuring a comfortable flow and stability. Inspired by famous mouthpiece by C. F. Paulus, Neukirchen (18th or 19th century), also known as Basel private collection mouthpiece.

  • Derived from the original Paulus mouthpiece from a private collection in Basel, the Sprezzatura features a stem prolonged to approximately 18.5mm with a 1:10 cone, offering a general fit for most modern cornetts. The borehole has been reduced to 3mm, complemented by an added cylindrical part in the backbore to stabilize airflow. The backbore cone is strategically focused on the player's lips, and a ventury cone has been introduced at the transition between the cup and backbore to minimize the swirling sound of the air. The overall diameter is reduced compared to the original Paulus mouthpiece, achieved by removing 0.5mm from the top of the cup, resulting in a more stabilized tone.

With excellent response and control, it is versatile enough to suit various kinds of repertoire, performing well in subtle passages while also providing a strong tone with a bit of a push.

  • Upon request, adjustments can be made to parameters such as rim diameter, rim thickness, borehole diameter, and more. Additionally, there is a choice regarding the prominence of the venturi cone, balancing articulation properties with background air noise according to personal preference.

Forte

As the name suggests, Forte is the loud one! Forte excels in all aspects, making it a versatile option for general playing. Inspired by well-known historical mouthpiece 1893/59, St. Annen-Museum, Lübeck, originating in 1740 Germany.

  • Derived from the original Lübeck mouthpiece, Forte retains the conical shape of the cup, which is slightly reduced in diameter compared to the original, enhancing responsiveness and stability. A conical venturi transition has been introduced between the cup and the backbore to eliminate turbulences that cause a hissing sound in the blowing air. The original Lübeck already features a cylindrical part in the backbone, which now has smaller diameter and adjustments were made to the conicity to focus the cone on the player's lips.

  • As the name suggests, Forte is the loud one! It's the ideal choice when you need to add a bit more dynamic to keep up with the organ and trombones. Beyond its powerful attributes, Forte excels in all aspects, making it a versatile option for general playing. It boasts excellent articulation properties, responsiveness, and comfortable playability.
